GWAR Nashville Concert reviews
Crushed in the pit, nailed to the stage
GWAR is, simply put, the best metal live performance you can possibly see. If you're unfamiliar, you might not take these guys seriously- who goes on stage in rubber masks? But no, seriously, you need to see these guys. The music is played at bone-shaking volume, with lead singer Oderus Urungus bellowing madly trying to keep up with a frantic beat. Horror-show versions of political figures (such as Sarah Palin) and pop stars (Lady GaGa) are brought onstage and evisverated for your enjoyment, which means some rubber intestines and hundred-foot geysers of fake blood shooting all over the crowd. But never fear, GWAR's fake blood is a seaweed mix that washes out of most anything. So you get hard-as-anything music, a live show that ranges from gross to hilarious, and you get drenched from head to toe to help cool you down and keep you rocking, and even if you're not super hardcore it mostly comes out in the wash. What else can I say? See this band now.
